Section 46 of the Universities Act sets out rules on student unions. All university students who are in programmes leading to a bachelor’s or master’s degree must be members of a student union. The law stipulates that a student union must have a board and a council of representatives that both make decisions. The board has also administrative and executive powers.
The government decree on universities stipulates further that the student union must have an administrative body that deals with its finances. For TREY, this administrative body is the Committee for Financial Affairs.
